Tear down Thursday continues. A classic smart looking two-flat at 3622 N Leavitt in North Center had been recently purchased for $695,000. A "wreck and remove" permit was issued for the property on November 9th. I made note back in April that the median price of a single family home sale is over $1 million in North Center. New construction homes on a 30' wide lot can sell for double that.
Despite following construction activity for a decade tear down of an attractive brick two-flat that defines the neighborhood's architecture is still shocking to me. This is not a quirky frame afterthought. But an afterthought nevertheless.
